Holden Caulfield, Class of '53

Holden Caulfield
Class of 1953

Holden, a troubled youth that attended virtually every private school in the state, came to WPSA after suffering a tremendous nervous breakdown.  A listless student, he despised people who were “phony” and adored small children.  Holden used flippancy to mask his disgust for the horrible egocentric nightmare America has become.  In this way, he came to symbolize an entire subculture that grew from the conformist 1950s.  He now lives in a secluded estate, where he dreams of hiding in a rye field and catching children that fall from a tall cliff.
